"UNESCO DECLARES THE DOLOMITES A NATURAL WORLD HERITAGE SITE"

On the 26th June 2009, UNESCO included these calcite mountains on list of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.
By this action, the United Nations has officialy recognized THE UNIQUE NATURE OF THE DOLOMITES

The splendid mountains surrounding Cortina are without doubt one of the reasons why the Ampezzo valley is considered to be among the worlds' most fascinating places.

The name Dolomites derives from that of a particular mineral, which is the main constituent of the rocks. Dolomite is a double carbonate of both calcium and magnesium, whose composition was descovered by a french scientist named Deodat de Dolomieu (1750-1801).
